Frequently Asked Questions

First Step Counselling and Wellbeing does not require a doctor’s referral or mental health care plan. Simply contact us either via email or phone to book your free initial consultation.

Unlike many psychologists, there are no 3 or 6 months wait times! In fact, appointments are generally made in the first 2 weeks from contact.

Yes! First Step Counselling & Wellbeing offers counselling for those with plan managed or self-managed NDIS plans. Counselling comes under the “Therapeutic Supports” group. To make sure you are eligible, check your NDIS Plan for funding for therapeutic supports.

If you need to cancel your appointment, simply call, text or email to cancel your appointment 48 hours in advance free of charge. If you decide to cancel your appointment within the 48 hour period before your appointment you will be charged the regular fee. In some cases, fees will be excused depending on the reasoning for cancellation.

Unfortunately, we do not offer Medicare rebates with our services, however, counselling sessions are priced competitively with the Medicare rebate rates.

For those without an NDIS plan, an invoice will be sent out to you via email after the appointment has been made. The payment will need to be made 48 hours before the appointment to confirm. Once payment has been received and cleared you will receive a text notification confirming your appointment.

 

For those with an NDIS plan, invoices will be sent out after the appointment has been completed.  

NDIS participants are charged the same rate per counselling session as any other client. First Step Counselling & Wellbeing does not charge the maximum rate for counselling sessions.

First Step Counselling & Wellbeing uses the NDIS approved Modified Monash Model (MMM) in line with the price guide. The MMM zones include:
